Artificial Intelligence Like It or Not, We Have to Face It Clearly

It no longer matters whether we like artificial intelligence or not. AI is already here. The question is whether we can face it with clarity.

Artificial intelligence must be faced clearly because it is already part of our social, political, and cultural reality.

The real question is not whether we like AI or dislike it, but whether we can use it without losing human responsibility, critical thinking, creativity, and public trust.

Why Artificial Intelligence Is No Longer a Future Problem

In this new FutureScape podcast episode, Elia Impaloni invites us to view artificial intelligence as a historical and political force already changing our society, rather than a gadget to celebrate or a monster to fear.

The future is no longer waiting at the horizon. It is already inside our tools, our choices, our words, and our imagination.

AI, Democracy, and the Crisis of Public Trust

What happens when deepfakes begin to damage public trust?

What happens when voices, images, and documents can be imitated so convincingly that doubt becomes permanent?

This is one of the most urgent questions raised in the conversation: not only whether AI can create false realities, but whether our societies are strong enough to recognize them.

FutureScape interview with Elia Impaloni on artificial intelligence, deepfakes, democracy, critical thinking, and human responsibility.

Will AI Make Us All Think the Same?

There is a danger in becoming too comfortable.

A danger in letting machines smooth every contradiction, flatten each voice, and offer us answers before we have truly asked the question.

What happens when every text starts to sound the same? What happens when we delegate tasks, of course, but also judgment, responsibility, creativity, and even doubt?

Critical Thinking as the Human Skill We Cannot Delegate

But there is also another possibility.

Maybe AI can help us see more clearly, if we remain awake enough to ask where the information comes from, who benefits from the narrative, and whether the thought we are expressing is still truly ours.

The question is not only how powerful AI becomes. The question is how conscious we remain while using it.

How to Face AI Without Fear or Blind Enthusiasm

This is not a conversation about being optimistic or pessimistic.

This is a conversation about clarity and understanding — about how we can truthfully assess AI’s role in defining our humanity.

Not fear.Not blind enthusiasm.Lucidity.

Conclusion: AI Is Here. Now We Need Lucidity.

Artificial intelligence is already part of the world we are building.

The challenge is not simply to accept it or reject it, but to face it with enough awareness to protect what makes us human: responsibility, imagination, doubt, creativity, and judgment.

Can we use artificial intelligence without losing what makes us human?

People also ask

Is Artificial Intelligence good or bad for society?

Artificial Intelligence is not simply good or bad. Its impact depends on how humans design, regulate, and use it. AI can support knowledge, education, and access to information, but it can also undermine public trust, creativity, and critical thinking if used without responsibility.

Can AI weaken democracy?

AI can weaken democracy when it amplifies disinformation, deepfakes, manipulation, or political messaging that citizens cannot verify. However, it can also support democracy by helping people better understand complex issues and participate more consciously in public debate.

Why are deepfakes dangerous?

Deepfakes are dangerous because they can make false events appear visually or verbally real. This threatens public trust, especially when citizens no longer know whether images, voices, or documents are reliable.

Will AI make people less creative?

AI may reduce originality if people use it to replace their own thinking and voice. But it can also support creativity when used as a tool for organization, research, or inspiration rather than as a substitute for human expression.

How should we use AI responsibly?

We should use AI with source-checking, human supervision, transparency, and personal responsibility. The key is not to delegate judgment entirely, but to remain able to ask: “How do I know this is true?”
